Aiming at introducing advanced systems thinking-based management methods to businesses, the Institute for Strategic Leadership Development Research (SLEADER), Vietnam and the Malik Management Institute (Malik), Switzerland organized the Workshop “Effective management based systems thinking: Practical Models and Tools”.
The seminar attracted the attention and participation of nearly 60 managers, leaders of businesses in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. Presenting at the workshop were experts in systems thinking, corporate governance and organizational development foundation. In addition, the seminar was attended by discussion guests who are leading experts on strategy and leadership of Vietnamese businesses.
The seminar included 4 useful topics for businesses to learn and apply Malik’s advanced systems thinking-based management methods.
In the topic “Vietnamese enterprises from the perspective of systems thinking”, Dr. Tran Thi Hong Lien – Vice Dean of Business Administration Faculty, University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) introduced new viewpoints on enterprises and organizations from the systems thinking perspective. Many Vietnamese businesses today are mainly operated by some excellent individuals, thereby, resulting in systems collapse if they leave. From there, it is clear that successful managers are assessed by the system they leave after departing from the organization. Building an organization based on systems thinking therefore should be one of the priorities of businesses for sustainable efficiency.
Dr. Nam Nguyen, Director of Australia and Southeast Asia, Malik Institute, Switzerland – a pioneer in the application of systems thinking in complexity management introduced Practical models and tools of the Malik Management system. By explaining and showing the importance of systems thinking in the operating of organizations and societies, he pointed out that the strength of the Malik management system model was that it could enable administrators to holistically and systematically solve problems.
In fact, the current world has evolved and changed into a complex system. Managers therefore are always “miserable” because of issues such as the rise of competitors, low labor quality due to the lack of core skills, poor management efficiency and the inability to deal with crises.
With the desire to help managers get practical tools for corporate governance, Dr. Tran Thi Hong Lien introduced the Performance Management Wheel – a tool that helps administrators achieve work efficiency while still enjoying life. Especially, this tool could allow managers to obtain extraordinary results just by using ordinary people – not genius.
The unique feature of the Malik Management System is that it enable businesses to find the right strategy for breakthrough growth in the new era of integration. Besides, Dr. Duong Thu – Director of the Institute for Strategic Leadership Development Research (SLEADER) also talked about the application of such models and tools to strategy formulation.
The application of these models could help businesses predict and assess the system as a whole. The strongest and most special method is SuperSyntegration (only implemented in 3.5 days) which could enable managers to simultaneously and generally solve the intertwined issues in each organization and find comprehensive solutions to formulate a sustainable development strategy.
The application of the above models and tools may shorten the entire process of formulating and implementing strategy. The Institute for Strategic Leadership Development Research (SLEADER) has cooperated with the Malik Institute, Switzerland to formulate and deliver strategies to businesses within a period of only 3.5 months.
In the discussion session, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hai – Director of the School of Business Administration, University of Economics and Business, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Dr. Nguyen Dinh Trong, President, General Director of T-TECH Vietnam Technology Group shared his practical experiences in applying system thinking as well as actual management tools at Vietnamese enterprises.
The workshop created a forum for businesses and experts to discuss modern management methods and challenges for effective management in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4.0).
