1. The complex systems of the 21st century have emerged from the achievements of the ways of thinking and methods of the 20th century, but they can no longer be managed with these, because the systems have globally become too complex for them.

2. The 21st century has already brought a more radical transformation in its deep structures than is perceived on the surface. Not only is a paradigm shift taking place, but also a shift in the categories in which we perceive paradigms as such.

3. The categorical dimensions of the new worldview are called complexity, system, functioning, control, self-organization, information, non-linearity, knowledge and cognition.

4. Global societies are transforming into a complexity society – in mutation steps from a society of individuals to a society of organizations to a society of systems – which are complex. Due to their complexity, they have inherent dynamics that demand a fundamentally different management than before.

5. Knowledge has become more important than time and energy, information more important than money, and the targeted self-organization capability of companies more important than power.

6. The relevant knowledge for the functioning of this society comes from the sciences of complexity. These are cybernetics, systems theory and bionics. The relevant insight lies in applying this knowledge.

7. The complexity center and anchor point of master control is, depending on the organization, the customer, client, patient, student, voter – in short: anyone who needs its service and pays for it in some form. Only the organization that provides its service recipients with effective solutions for mastering complexity will succeed.
